Joe Nguyen
Joe Nguyen is a Vietnamese American public servant and former Washington State Senator who represented the 34th District from 2019 to 2025. Raised in White Center and Burien in a working-class immigrant family, he studied finance and humanities at Seattle University. In the Senate, Nguyen focused on equity, economic opportunity, and technology policy, and in 2021, he ran for King County Executive. In 2024, Governor Bob Ferguson appointed him as Director of the Washington State Department of Commerce.
